Rangers chose not to bite on a deal for Livingston striker Joel Nouble and

he is now on the verge of signing for third-tier Exeter City in England.

Rangers were in the hunt for forwards this summer,

but Michael Beale’s decisions have raised questions.

Cyriel Dessers continues to divide opinion, Danilo is out injured,

and Sam Lammers has already been moved to Utrecht.

Philippe Clement has signed a new striker in Fabio Silva, who is only on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Rangers may consider other strikers for the current season or in the summer,

but Joel Nouble is one name that can be officially eliminated.

Joel Nouble is moving to Exeter City following a weird Rangers suggestion.

It’s not often that managers deliberately sell their strikers.

However, Livingston manager David Martindale took that route,

often mentioning Nouble’s potential departure elsewhere.

Nouble scored seven goals in 30 league appearances last season,

and Martindale praised him as a ‘great talent’, indicating he would be an ideal fit for Rangers.

We never believed into that; at 6ft 4in, Nouble is clearly a handful,

but he has never been a prolific goalscorer, even in England’s non-league system.

Aldershot Town has five goals in 31 games, while Thurrock has four in 37 games.

We respect Nouble’s muscular style, but we never regarded him as a striker who could make an impact at Rangers.

Nouble hasn’t really wowed this season either and is goalless in 20 Scottish Premiership games,

so Rangers were never going to bite this month despite Martindale’s proposals.

According to the Daily Record, the 28-year-old is on the verge of leaving Livingston for English club Exeter City.

Exeter, managed by former Scotland international Gary Caldwell,

are 20th in League One and looking to escape the relegation zone.

Nouble’s contract expires at the end of the season, and the Grecians are now working to finalize a deal.

A transfer to the bottom of League One makes far more sense than Martindale’s Rangers recommendation,

and any talk of a move to Ibrox can now be put to rest.
