Who is the Bills backup quarterback? Buffalo’s 2024 QB depth chart behind Josh Allen
After defeating the Steelers in the wild-card round, the Bills are cruising into the AFC Divisional Round, having won six straight games.
To keep Buffalo’s dreams of winning the Super Bowl alive, star quarterback Josh Allen donned his Superman cape and threw for 203 yards and
three touchdowns while rushing for 74 yards and one touchdown. After throwing for two touchdowns to put the Bills ahead 14-0 against
Pittsburgh, he opened up the scoring with a 56-yard rushing score, the second-longest by a quarterback in NFL playoff history.
Now, Buffalo is set to host the defending champion Chiefs at Highmark Stadium in what will be Patrick Mahomes’ first career road playoff game.
Allen enters the contest with a clean bill of health, but who is his backup if anything were to happen to the franchise QB?
Bills QB depth chart
1. Josh Allen
Kyle Allen — who is not related to Josh — is in his first season as the Bills’ backup quarterback.
He has appeared in seven games in 2023 but has not attempted a pass. In fact, his only stats this season are 13 rushing attempts for -13 yards, all of
which came on QB kneels.
This is Allen’s sixth season in the NFL after going undrafted out of Houston in 2018. He filled in as the Panthers’ interim starter for 12 games back
in 2019, throwing for 3,322 yards, 17 touchdowns and 16 interceptions while completing 62 percent of his passes. Carolina went 5-7 with Allen
under center.
The Bills do not currently have an emergency QB signed to their roster or practice squad. So, if both Josh and Kyle Allen go down with injuries in
the same game, the team will be forced to use another player under center.
