Andy Walker has described the latest news on away fans potentially returning for Celtic vs Rangers games as a ‘token gesture’.

Alan Brazil and Ally McCoist have made an appeal for away fans to return to

Ibrox and Parkhead for the next two Celtic and Rangers games.

This follows a recent article in The Times, which claimed that there

has been a’significant development’ in talks between the two groups, with the SPFL serving as a mediator.

As a result, up to 750 away Celtic fans may go to Ibrox for the April 6 match.

But Andy Walker is having none of it, claiming that there will never be a return to

the good old days of up to 8000 fans in the away end, as reported by Go Radio.

This away supporter farce has been going on since 2018,

when Rangers were consistently the second best team,

which led to the opponent reducing the allocation and eventually resulting in no fans at all.

Andy Walker was quite frank and straightforward in his thoughts on the latest version.

“I fear it will be a token gesture,” Walker remarked. “I don’t believe you’ll ever go back to seven or eight thousand.

I don’t think that the clubs want it.

“That would be fantastic (the chance of having 2.5k fans). But I’m concerned that it will be a token gesture or another seven to eight hundred.

“I’m sure we all saw Sunderland v Newcastle and were struck by the contrast between

the red and white and the black and white. The naked colour and the edge that is constantly present.

“But, honestly, I don’t see Celtic-Rangers coming back. I think it’s terrible,

but that’s what you’re up against.

Celtic quest for additional trophies.

The Bhoys had already won the title, as well as many others, thus supporters and

non-fans alike are certain that the team will succeed.

That was demonstrated when Derby Day King Kyogo Furuhashi scored the winning at Ibrox earlier in

the season before making the difference again at Parkhead.

As Brendan Rodgers knows all too well, this is when Celtic rise to the occasion and deliver.

With destiny in the club’s hands, fans should expect considerably more regular performances from here on.
