With the 2025 NFL draft starting Thursday night, TreVeyon Henderson, the standout running back for the Ohio State Buckeyes, is an exciting prospect to keep an eye on. Henderson just finished a stellar 2024 season for Ohio State, helping the Buckeyes win a national title. For teams in need of running back assistance, he is one guy who many consider to be a sleeper possibility. Henderson averaged an outstanding 7.1 yards per carry while carrying the football 144 times for 1,016 yards and 10 touchdowns during the 2024 season with Ohio State. In addition, he caught 27 receptions for 284 yards and a touchdown.
The standout for the Buckeyes has been given a significant new projection with the draft only 48 hours away. A fresh seven-round mock draft has been made public by ESPN’s Jordan Reid. He predicts that the Chicago Bears will choose Henderson with the 39th overall selection in the second round. “Ben Johnson’s offenses in Detroit were predicated on generating explosive plays, and Henderson can do that as a runner and receiver,” Reid stated. “Last season, he had the second-highest yards per carry in the FBS at 7.1. Together, his running and receiving totals were 1,300 yards and 11 touchdowns. In this case, Henderson would team up with Caleb Williams. With the Bears, they would create a dynamic backfield for the future.
Henderson would also benefit greatly from having Ben Johnson as his head coach. He would assist in playing a similar role to that of Jahmyr Gibbs with the Detroit Lions under Johnson. Henderson might be selected by a number of clubs in the 2025 draft. If he is still available in the second round when the Bears are on the clock, Chicago is just one club to closely monitor.
