Patrick Mahomes Injury: Doctor Raises MCL Concerns as Consecutive Short Weeks Approach Chiefs

With no other option, the Chiefs had to replace him with backup QB Carson Wentz. He completed both of his passes for 20 yards as the Chiefs came away with their 13th victory and an injured Mahomes. Well, the Chiefs QB didn’t just limp as he made his way to the locker room. Post-game visuals showed that Mahomes had to be carted off the Chiefs’ locker room because he couldn’t walk properly.

Although Andy Reid later came out and said his “ankle was not broken,” there could be other concerns. As per Tom Christ, a physical therapy doctor, his analysis states Mahomes may have ruptured his MCL. Going through the footage of his injury, Christ wrote, “Right ankle gets caught, eversion mechanism which can cause a high ankle or medial ankle sprain. Also, looking at the right knee twisting, which would be concerning for MCL but not sure that’s the problem. Hope he’s okay.” Well, the whole Kansas City will be hoping Mahomes is more than okay.

Everyone in Kansas City would be on their knees praying for at least the next few days. On the day when the Chiefs finally won a game with a healthy margin, they had to witness their reigning Super Bowl MVP limp off the field. With only eight minutes remaining on the clock, Patrick Mahomes saw himself sandwiched in between two Brown defenders. This left Mahomes agonizing in pain, as he couldn’t walk freely after that.
