West Ham to complete another signing after Foderingham terms agreed – sources
Wes Foderingham has agreed personal terms with West Ham ahead of a potential summer
transfer, according to Football Insider. Foderingham, 33, will not sign a contract extension with
Sheffield United and will instead join the Hammers on July 1, when his current agreement ends.
The goalkeeper has accepted a contract offer
from West Ham ahead of his free transfer to the London Stadium. Foderingham, who has been with
Sheffield United for four years since coming in 2020, will now go on to the next stage of his
career.Foderingham featured 31 times for the Blades in the just-finished season as they found
themselves marooned at the bottom of the table, with the goalkeeper shipping 79 goals.
He preserved just one Premier League clean sheet, and another in the FA Cup, as Sheffield United
won just three league games this season, surrendering 106 goals.
With the goalkeeper’s contract ready to expire, he is unlikely to stay in the Premier League with
West Ham rather than move to the Championship with the Blades.
Alphonse Areola established himself as the London Stadium’s first-choice shot-stopper, playing 33
games, surrendering 60 goals and holding only four Premier League clean sheets.
Lukasz Fabianski, meanwhile, made 23 appearances in all competitions, keeping six clean sheets
and conceding 30 goals.
