Why Matty Cash isn’t playing for Aston Villa against Burnley
Due to illness, Matty Cash will not play for Aston Villa against Burnley in the Premier League. When the teams for
Saturday afternoon’s matchup against the Clarets were revealed, the full-back was a surprising exclusion from the
starting lineup. It is recognized that he is ill and cannot feature as a result.
Cash has been a consistent starter for Unai Emery this season, but he was suspended for one game for receiving too
many yellow cards, so he was unable to play against Manchester United on Boxing Day. Diego Carlos took the place
of the Polish international in the starting lineup, while Ezri Konsa moved to right back.
Due to Cash’s unavailability, Konsa will start against Burnley as the center back alongside Carlos and Clement
Langlet. Lucas Digne, who is injured, is replaced at left back by Alex Moreno.
