Warriors Announce Roster Move After Loss to Denver Nuggets
Warriors Announce Roster Move After Loss to Denver Nuggets The Golden State Warriors will play the Miami Heat on Thursday after losing to the Denver Nuggets on Christmas
afternoon. Golden State announced that it had sent Gui Santos back down to the Santa Cruz Warriors prior to this
game versus the Heat. The group included the following in their statement:
Warriors, it was announced today. In 15 games (all starts) with Santa Cruz this season, Santos is averaging 14.9
points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 28.7 minutes per game. He has appeared in four games with Golden State,
averaging 3.3 points and 2.0 rebounds in 5.5 minutes per game.”
Despite his strong play for Santa Cruz, Santos has not received any playing time in the NBA. Santos does not have an
easy route to playing time in the NBA because Golden State already has a tight rotation that frequently prevents
more experienced players from getting minutes. Instead, he will continue to hone his skills in the G-League.
The Warriors have sent Santos up and down quite a bit, having him active in the NBA when needed, but also making
sure he does not miss out on valuable game reps in the G-League just so he can sit on the bench in Golden State.
