Nat Phillips set for Liverpool return after disappointing loan spell
Nat Phillips, a defender for Liverpool, is coming back to Merseyside in January.
Since the summer transfer window, the centre back has been at Celtic,
helping Brendan Rodgers’ defence deal with a mounting injury list.
The Record, however, notes that due to a lack of first team play,
Phillips will rejoin his parent club.
Phillips has made eight appearances since moving from Anfield,
and he was inept in his cameo against Hibs and guilty of a foul against Killie.
Despite not playing many games,
the huge defender has entered and failed to make an impression.
It is anticipated that the Englishman will be moved out on loan once more to
play first team football after returning to Anfield.
Brendan Rodgers, nevertheless, has been all praise for the 26-year-old because of
his dedication to his training. Phillips has been the Irishman’s third defender,
after Liam Scales and Cameron Carter-Vickers.
With Gustaf Lagerbielke and Maik Nawrocki finding it difficult to make matchday squads,
Phillips’ departure should help them in their training endeavours to get into the first team.
