While healing from a hamstring injury during the past six months, Aston Villa defender Alex Moreno acknowledges that it was the “worst moment” of his career.

On Thursday night, the left-back made a sensational comeback to the Villa squad by scoring the game-winning goal against Legia Warsaw in the Europa Conference League. Although he had been back in Villa’s matchday squad since September, it was his first appearance of the season.

After initially sustaining the injury in May during Villa’s penultimate Premier League match of the previous season against Liverpool, he experienced a setback in his recuperation that delayed his return to action.

“I’m excited to be back, support the team, and win,” Moreno said to Villa TV. “Everyone who helped me a lot with my injury, including the staff, the club, friends, and family, is someone I want to thank very much.” I dedicate this objective to all the people who have helped me, and I am thrilled to be here.

“It was amazing; Villa Park has a great atmosphere.” Returning to the pitch was something I was eager to do, and it gives me desire to play.

“I’m feeling well. It was the first surgery I had ever experienced. I think that was the lowest point of my career, but I’m stronger and more motivated now.

“It was really difficult, and there were times when I felt frustrated and had setbacks, but I know that my body and mind are strong. I put a lot of effort into getting better as quickly as possible, especially on holidays.

“My friends and family really aided in my recovery. I’ve studied English, and I want to get better at it.

“They play well at home and it’s a very tough match,” Moreno stated in reference to the matchup with Bournemouth. We have to never stop getting better and striving for success. There are three crucial points.
